Agricultural Management

Cannington is host to our award-winning 180-hectare working farm, which is one of the region’s most important dairy units. It has a dairy herd of high-yielding Holsteins and a state-of-the-art computerised milking parlour producing an average of 9,500 litres per cow each year. The farm has a contract with Tesco and is rated in the top 5% of farms within the Tesco Sustainable Dairy Group.

The farm is a forerunner in the use of new and emerging technology, and students have the opportunity to use an array of the latest agricultural machinery and equipment to prepare them for work in the industry.

Our pioneering Agriculture Innovation Centre has resources and facilities to undertake commercial trial and research work. Resources include laboratories equipped with cutting-edge scientific equipment to give students excellent access to the latest industry standards.

We also have a fully equipped Biosecurity Centre, which ensures students work to unrivalled standards of disease prevention and control.
