At University Centre Somerset (UCS), staff continuously engage with research and scholarly activity. In doing so, they stay up-to-date with trends and developments in industry. Working alongside employers and industry, staff drive innovation, while passing on their research, theories, and understanding to students.

UCS’ staff’s research and scholarly activity is a testament to their passion. By staying at the forefront of their disciplines, they enhance teaching and the student experience. Some staff research projects even involve partnering with students, equipping them with valuable research and employability skills for the future.

Education is empowering, practical, and personal

The annual Research and Scholarship Conference, hosted by University Centre Somerset, allows lecturers and educators to showcase the breadth of research across the institution.

The conference provides the UCS community with an opportunity to share good practice, highlight innovations and ongoing developments in their disciplines, and foster collaboration amongst researchers. Research articles are published in the annual Research and Scholarly Activities publication, you can see our most recent articles in the table below.

Our academic staff are active researchers who regularly present their findings on the international stage. By combining this academic expertise with insights from our university and industry partners, we ensure our curriculum is always relevant.

As proud members of the national Advance HE Network, we use our ongoing research to enhance the student experience and deliver the practical, high-level skills employers are looking for.
