Early Childhood Education and Care students have this week, presented their Creative Reflexive Practitioner Displays; this is a visual representation of their reflexive journeys, including theoretical influences, work-based experiences and challenges.
No two projects are the same, as students used Lego, paint, cardboard, and even grew their own grass, to represent the ups and downs of their educational and life journey so far.
Chloe explained, ‘I chose to do painting so I could demonstrate my creativity as a practitioner. With the blue side representing my barriers and the yellow side representing the positive aspects of my journey so far.’
Grace commented, ‘The design is dedicated to my love of football, and my achievements and how far I have come. The stadium is symbolism for where my life plays out’.
Lucy said, ‘This piece highlights the highs and lows of what has been a very challenging but rewarding educational journey. Just like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, I have learnt the importance of friendship, loyalty, adventure and self-belief.’
Alyssa said, ‘My creative piece is inspired by the imagination of children. I love to be imaginative and I believe that nurturing a child’s creativity and imagination is integral to their development’.
Staff and students from across the UCS and BTC are invited to come and look and make their reflections to give feedback to the students.
