History in the making – First UCS BSc (Hons) Nursing cohort complete degrees with celebration event!

📆 Saturday 18 October

University Centre Somerset (UCS) has marked its first cohort of BSc (Hons) Nursing students completing their degrees with a celebration event.

The event began with the group sharing their most memorable moments during their studies. They included:

  • “Securing a job on the ICU.”
  • “Realising how strong and resilient I am.”
  • “Making lifelong friends.”
  • “Supporting a patient on end-of-life care and being told I made the families worst day of their life that little bit better.”
  • “Being able to study and write about something that I truly care about.”
  • “I have loved all my placements, and thanks to UCS I have found the area I want to specialise in.”
  • “Even when I’m weak, I am strong and should never give up. That’s something I’ve learnt here at UCS.”

Laira, Head of Nursing & Health Professions at UCS, responded by pointing out what an incredible journey they have been through together and that ‘supporting you all academically is what we are here for, but this group has been there through the life hurdles as well.’
