Louise Rowley has been appointed a Member of the British Empire (MBE) for services to Further Education in the King’s Birthday Honours list. This prestigious accolade recognises her significant contributions to education and her impact on the community through innovative educational practice and partnerships.
Louise has dedicated over 30 years to teaching and supporting learners, latterly in Somerset, playing a pivotal role in raising aspirations, improving outcomes and transforming opportunities for young people and adults alike. Her work has included leading the delivery of innovative curricula such as Nursing Degrees at University Centre Somerset, the introduction of T Levels and championing inclusion and SEND, all of which have had a lasting impact on students, colleagues and the wider community.
Andy Berry CBE, CEO of UCS College Group, said:
Everyone across UCS College Group is incredibly proud of Louise. This honour is richly deserved recognition of her exceptional contribution to education and to the lives of countless students over many years. Louise embodies our mission to transform lives and communities through learning, and this award highlights the national significance of the work being done here in Somerset.
Louise Rowley said:
I am deeply honoured to receive this award. It is both unexpected and incredibly humbling. It has been a privilege to work with such fantastic students and colleagues over the years, and this recognition is as much about the collective efforts of our dedicated team at UCS College Group as it is about me. Education is the key to transforming lives, and this award recognises the vital part that further and higher education plays in this.
Louise will receive the MBE at an investiture ceremony later this year.
The MBE is awarded to individuals who have made innovative contributions to public life, or who have performed outstanding services at a regional or national level. Louise’s recognition underscores her prominent role in shaping educational policies and programmes that have a lasting impact on society.
