A University Centre Somerset Registered Nurse Degree Apprentice has presented her service improvement project at the UWE Bristol Nursing Conference.
Krystyna Pinto presented her service improvement project, Reducing Language Barriers in Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment – Alcohol-Revised Assessment: A nursing-led service improvement project, at the conference in June. The conference was an opportunity for student nurses from across the region to share innovative research and practice improvement ideas.
Krystyna’s project explores how translating a core assessment tool used to support people experiencing alcohol withdrawal could help reduce language barriers in healthcare settings. This approach could support more effective communication and help to improve patient care.
She developed the Service Improvement Proposal as part of her Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship. It demonstrates how nursing students can identify practical solutions to real challenges faced in clinical practice.
Krystyna did an excellent job presenting her project at the conference. Her proposal addresses a real challenge in practice, and we hope she’ll have the opportunity to implement it within her workplace in the future, where it has the potential to make a meaningful difference for patients.
