Course Overview
This course is designed for students who have completed the Foundation Degree in Makeup Artistry, Prosthetic FX & Wig Making, or an equivalent qualification. It will provide you with the advanced skills and knowledge you need to work at the highest level in the film, television and theatre industries.
Assessment Methods
Assessment is through a combination of practical projects, presentations and a major final project.
Progression Options
On successful completion of this course, you will be well-equipped for a successful career as a freelance makeup artist, or to work for a major film, television or theatre production company.

Fees and additional costs
Subject to the maximum fee limits set out in regulations, we will review the fees and may increase them in line with the Retail Price Index (RPI-X).
This course requires the purchase of additional kit and materials. UCS is pleased to be able to order and contribute towards the cost of kit for first year students. In September 2026, students received nearly £1,200 worth of kit and paid £600. We plan to run a similar scheme for students starting in September 2027. If you are studying a Degree Apprenticeship, your tuition fees are fully funded by your employer and the government, and you earn a salary while you learn. Yes. We offer dedicated, independent student accommodation tailored for our higher education learners, primarily based at our Taunton and Cannington campuses.
